- Camp Telework Type: Full-Time Office/Project Work Location: Jabiru Project Overview After more than 35 years operating as a successful uranium mine, the Ranger Project is entering its rehabilitation stage. Bechtel will work alongside ERA and major stakeholder Rio Tinto to restore the land to the status of its surrounding World Heritage listed Kakadu National Park. The project will be developed in consultation with the Mirarr Traditional Owners and will benefit the Jabiru community. Located 8 km east of Jabiru and 260 km south‑east of Darwin, the Ranger Project is a leading example of mining closure rehabilitation. Job Summary In this role, you will provide project field engineering specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and subcontract coordination. Your recommendations will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. Major Responsibilities
- Specialization & Expertise: Provide knowledge and expertise in a particular discipline or specialized process required for construction (e.g., tunnel boring, site de‑watering, glove boxes, special coatings systems, HVAC systems, Fire Detection and Suppression, reactor tender gallery coordinator, etc.) and give technical consultation support to projects.
- Work Planning & Packaging: Prepare construction drawings and sketches; lead preparation of construction drawings and schedules; design temporary construction facilities; ensure preparation of “as built” drawings and other job plans.
- Material Management: Initiate requisitions for field purchases; prepare quantity takeoffs of field‑purchased material and equipment.
- Quantities: Lead verification of commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems.
- Safety / Quality Control: Ensure zero‑accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others in the operational area, and that tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
- Technical: Proactively consider continuous learning or show interest to pursue appropriate learning activities.
- STR / Subcontract Coordinator: Review and approve inspection test plans. Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10–13 years of relevant experience, or 14–17 years of relevant work experience. Required Knowledge and Skills
- Prior practical engineering work experience leading to a thorough understanding of design, construction and commissioning requirements of LV and MV electrical power generators and distribution equipment.
- Prior practical engineering work experience leading to a thorough understanding of design, construction and commissioning requirements of process equipment including pumps, compressors, instrumentation and control equipment.
- Willingness and ability to work FIFO rosters, travelling to/from various office/project site locations within Australia.
- Safety, quality, cost and outcome focused.
- Demonstrated leadership in a team‑based environment.
- Knowledge of a single or multi‑discipline construction or engineering operation.
- Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications in accordance with current Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards; exposure to completion system would be advantageous.
- Experience working with, supervising and administering subcontractors and/or direct‑hire workforce.
