Role: Lived Experience Lead Location: Cooinda Employment type: Ongoing, Part Time 0.8 FTE About us: Ballarat Community Health is a not-for-profit community health organisation that’s been creating healthy communities through the provision of accessible, affordable and quality health and wellbeing services for over 45 years. We deliver a range of primary health, social care and community-based support to meet local community needs. If you’d like to know more about us visit our website About the role: This is a dynamic leadership role at the centre of lived experience practice, where you will lead and grow the Peer Workforce within Ballarat Community Health’s Mental Health and Counselling Services. You’ll guide a passionate team of Peer Workers, support their professional development through Consumer Perspective Supervision, and mentor the next generation of Peer Workers through the Peer Cadet Program. As a leader in the Peer space, you will help embed lived experience into service delivery, strengthen recovery-oriented practice, and collaborate with peer agencies across Victoria to grow and advocate for the Peer Workforce at a system level. You will also play a key role in strengthening how people reconnect with their communities after engaging with our services. This includes building practical, meaningful links with local organisations, services, and supports that help people move toward education, volunteering, social connection, and employment in ways that suit their recovery journey. Lived experience leadership is vital because it ensures services are shaped by real understanding, not just theory creating support that is more relatable, more effective, and grounded in hope, dignity, and genuine connection. What you will bring to the team: Lived experience of mental health challenges and recovery, with at least 5 years’ experience in a Peer/Lived Experience role Relevant qualification (minimum Certificate IV in Mental Health or equivalent Health and Community Services qualification) Proven experience in leading, mentoring, and developing others within a Peer or Lived Experience Workforce Strong communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage respectfully and non-judgementally with diverse people Highly developed organisational, written and project skills, including planning, reporting, problem-solving, and managing competing priorities with attention to detail Ballarat Community Health staff benefits At Ballarat Community Health, we are committed to creating a supportive and inclusive work environment that values the well-being of both our clients and our staff.
