Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineer Supalo delivers high-performance steel framing systems that have shaped and transformed the homes of Australian families for nearly 30 years. Responsibilities
- Manage technical in‑house R&D; manufacturing projects and actively participate in the design and commissioning of mechanical systems.
- Oversee the mechanical design of manufacturing equipment, translating concepts into build‑ready solutions.
- Own the end‑to‑end engineering lifecycle, from project definition, equipment design, and technical drawings to installation and commissioning.
- Serve as a subject‑matter expert for mechanical design and development.
- Drive productivity and capacity improvements through mechanical design, automation integration, and equipment development.
- Produce detailed equipment designs, drawings, functional specifications, and component selections.
- Provide hands‑on design and drafting support for in‑house mechanical development.
- Manage internal and external engineering activities, including suppliers, fabrication partners, and procurement.
- Coordinate with on‑site manufacturing technicians.
- Support production by troubleshooting mechanical issues, implementing equipment upgrades, and delivering safe, compliant engineering changes. Qualifications
- Skilled engineering background (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Mechatronic) with a relevant tertiary degree.
- 5+ years proven experience in mechanical design and development.
- CAD modelling skills (AutoCAD and Inventor preferred).
- Solid mechanical drafting and GD&T; proficiency.
- Strong mechanical acumen, able to rapidly assess designs and problem‑solve.
- Knowledge of weldment, sheet‑metal, and machined component design principles.
- Experience in lean manufacturing/lean design, with exposure to roll‑forming equipment or processes highly regarded.
- Strong project management skills with proven ability to manage timelines, budgets, mitigate risks, and work effectively with vendors and external suppliers.
- Ability to travel interstate as required. Benefits
