Senior Civil Engineer – Stormwater Design Ajax Engineering Pty Ltd – Adelaide, South Australia Work From Home (South Australia Based) $100,000 – $150,000 + Super (depending on experience) Ajax Engineering is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join our growing team specialising in residential stormwater and site drainage design across South Australia. This is a primarily work from home position; however, applicants must be based in South Australia and be willing to attend occasional site visits and meetings when required. About the Role The role will predominantly involve residential stormwater and site drainage design for new dwellings, townhouse developments, and small subdivisions, along with occasional small-scale commercial and industrial projects. This position also includes a team leadership component involving reviewing engineering work completed by junior engineers, providing technical guidance, and assisting with workflow management. The successful applicant will work closely with our existing senior engineering team and will have support from another experienced team leader for technical collaboration and project discussions. Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of residential stormwater and site drainage designs
- Stormwater detention and retention calculations
- Coordination with councils, builders, architects, certifiers, and surveyors
- Preparation and review of engineering drawings and reports
- Reviewing and checking work completed by other engineers
- Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers
- Civil design for small commercial and industrial developments
- Assisting with council RFIs and stormwater compliance matters
- Occasional site inspections and meetings within South Australia Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in civil engineering
- Experience in stormwater and drainage design within Australia
- Strong understanding of South Australian council requirements and relevant Australian Standards
- Experience with residential developments
- Experience using AutoCAD
- Experience with small subdivision projects
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines
- Strong communication and problem‑solving skills
- Based in South Australia
- Knowledge of WSUD principles and detention system design Preferred (but not essential)
- Experience using Civil 3D
- Experience with DRAINS or other hydraulic modelling software What We Offer
