We currently have opportunities for Leading Hand Electricians with Substation experience to join our Energy and Utilities Business in SA. About the Role Our Energy & Utilities business is seeking Leading Hand Electricians with Substation experience to join us on both brownfield and greenfield construction projects in South Australia. As a successful applicant, you will be promoting a safe work environment whilst leading a small team in undertaking hands‑on electrical works in high‑voltage substation environments, supporting the safe, compliant, and productive delivery of utility‑scale projects for TNSPs and DNSPs. The position goes beyond general electrical duties and is focused on specialist substation activities, strict safety controls, and working within EA‑driven project environments. These positions are local to Adelaide on a 5/2 roster, however suitable candidates from further afield may be considered on a 10/4 roster with LAFHA if required. Duties and Responsibilities
- Electrical installation, termination, and testing of primary and secondary systems within transmission and distribution substations
- Substation equipment works including, switchgear, transformers, bays and panels, protection relays, control panels, and marshalling kiosks
- Interpreting and working from schematics, wiring diagrams and protection drawings, switching schedules, work packs, and test plans
- Performing electrical testing, fault finding, and commissioning in accordance with network standards, AS/NZS 3000, and project specifications
- Working safely within live and high‑risk environments under permit‑to‑work systems, isolation, earthing and switching procedures
- Working flexible hours including shutdowns, night works, weekend works and roster cycles in line with project requirements and the Enterprise Agreement About You
- A relevant state recognised electrical licence
- Demonstrated experience leading teams in substations, utilities, or large‑scale electrical infrastructure projects
- Confident working in high‑risk HV environments with strict safety and compliance requirements
- Ability to work effectively on EA‑covered projects, including shift work, roster cycles, and remote work as required
- A strong safety mindset and the discipline required for regulated network environments
