The Role

The Mission Support Officer (MSO) will support the Directorate of Select Incident Review (DSIR) and be accountable under broad direction from the Director and Deputy Director and Executive Level 1.

As the MSO you will work as part of a small energetic team who are responsible for conducting on behalf of the IGADF, inquiries into the deaths of all ADF members.

You will be responsible for matter and information management within the team, drafting correspondence, tracking internal and external correspondence and liaising with both internal and external stakeholders including the Service Headquarters, Joint Health Command, Coroners, Police Services and the Services. You will also be required to assist in the administration of external inquiry officers.

About our Team

The Office supports the Inspector-General of the Australian Defence Force to deliver their statutory functions of overseeing the effectiveness of the military justice system. The office has:

Two ‘enabling’ directorates that provide administrative and legal support and

Four ‘output’ directorates delivering the Inspector-General’s statutory functions. These are:

Enquiries and Investigations,

Military Justice Performance Review,

Military Redress and Review, and

Select Incident Review.

DSIR is seeking a skilled who can work collaboratively in a small team and understands the sensitive nature of the team’s work. You will also possess solid communication and stakeholder management skills with a strong emphasis on being able to monitor and track the progress of inquiries, which are of a sensitive nature. Whilst part of a team, you will be comfortable working independently.
