Construction & Maintenance Operator (Adelaide)

Support Council's Works Program through construction, maintenance, plant operation and infrastructure Diverse outdoor role across construction, maintenance and infrastructure works 8 day fortnight
- 9.5 hour days Stable local government opportunity based at Port Broughton About the role As part of Council's Works team, the Construction & Maintenance Operator plays an important role in delivering maintenance and construction works across Council infrastructure, public facilities and community assets. Reporting to the Works Coordinator, you will undertake a broad range of civil construction and maintenance activities including road maintenance, concreting, drainage works, truck driving and plant operation. This is a wide-ranging and hands on position suited to someone who enjoys outdoor work, takes pride in delivering quality infrastructure outcomes and is willing to contribute across Council operations where needed. What you will do
- Assist with road construction and maintenance activities
- Undertake drain laying, bitumen surfacing and patching works
- Assist with concreting and general civil labouring duties
- Operate trucks and plant including loaders, graders, rollers, backhoes and other equipment
- Conduct routine plant inspections and minor maintenance where appropriate
- Assist with setting out works and field data collection
- Maintain accurate work records and participate in team and WHS activities
- Support broader Council works and maintenance activities as required What they are looking for
- Experience in civil construction, road maintenance or similar environments
- Ability to safely operate plant and heavy vehicles
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and teamwork
- Practical, reliable and hands on approach to work
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and follow procedures
- Sound communication and basic numeracy skills
- Strong time management and organisational skills
- Willingness to support broader Council operations and undertake varied duties
- Current South Australian HR or HC Driver's Licence (essential)
- Experience operating construction plant and equipment
- Relevant experience in road construction and maintenance
- Certificate III Civil Construction or equivalent
- WZTM
- Work Zone Traffic Management
- Previous Local Government experience
- Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance
