About the role The Social Worker provides specialist psychotherapy for infants, children, and families, focusing on early parenting and risk. The Social Worker conducts assessments, develops case formulations, supports staff, and collaborates across teams to promote child development and family wellbeing. Key duties of the role Provide psychotherapy for infants and caregivers and group work. Providing comprehensive assessment and intervention with infants, young children and families, including culturally and linguistically diverse families and families at moderate to high risk. Facilitate brief psychosocial referral pathways for existing therapy referrals. Provide skilled opinion regarding child development, psychosocial issues, child protection and other relevant matters Provide training within the requirement of the service. Utilising psychological diagnostic and therapeutic techniques. Skills and Experience Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers. Experience in providing high quality individual and group therapy with parents and infants (0-3 years). Experience in working with families at moderate to high risk. Specialist knowledge of infant and child development, psychological and social issues affecting young children’s development and in particular attachment theory and practice. Specialist knowledge of the complex factors impacting on parenting, including mental health, domestic and family violence, drug and alcohol misuse, homelessness and poverty. Ability to provide assessment and intervention with infants, young children, and families.
