About the Role The Westminster Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) program provides quality before school, after school and vacation care for children from Reception to Year 6 in a safe, harmonious and stimulating environment. Operating from 7am to 8:30am and 3:30pm to 6pm during school term times and 7am to 6pm during school holiday periods. The OSHC Assistant primarily assists the OSHC Director in the implementation of daily routines and programs by undertaking a range of duties and activities. We are seeking a qualified OSHC Assistant who is passionate about supporting and developing young children to join our casual pool. Term and vacation care hours available. Key Responsibilities Include:
- Establish a supportive relationship with students and, where appropriate, their parents
- Implement and evaluate daily routines in consultation with other staff
- Implement and evaluate a quality program based on individual and group needs of children under supervision
- Ensure that children’s records are maintained and updated regularly; Provide objective written and oral observations of children, as required, while maintaining confidentiality
- Work with individual children and groups according to their needs
- Help with preparing afternoon tea and keeping OSHC generally tidy and protected
- Liaise with parents in a positive, professional and supportive manner
- Keeping records for the OSHC program. Maintain children’s portfolios with observations, photos, learning stories, and examples of work. The successful candidate will have an approved relevant qualification (e.g. Diploma in Children’s Services). You will need to demonstrate knowledge of the National Quality Framework, My Time Our Place Curriculum and have experience working with primary school aged children (Reception to Year 6).
