Located in a state-of-the-art Salisbury Community Hub only 25 minutes from the CBD the role reports to the Deputy Chief Executive Officer and as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Divisional Head Finance is responsible for the provision of strategic commercial advice to the organisation and leading a professional team in the development and presentation of the organisation’s annual plan, budget and long-term financial plan to maintain Council’s long-term financial viability. Oversight of the full suite of financial management, systems, procedures, reporting and analysis, key areas of focus include: Responsibilities
- provision of strategic commercial advice to the leadership team to support the delivery of key projects and initiatives;
- management reporting to stakeholders and implementation of strong financial controls and compliance ensuring legislative and public accountability;
- review and development of appropriate policies and procedures for the control of Council’s financial affairs;
- management and ongoing evaluation of the rates section operations and analysis of rating options;
- business planning and reporting assistance to divisions and business units providing a high level of customer service and value adding benefit;
- preparation of strategic business plans and budgets including the treasury strategy to achieve Council objectives while minimising financing costs;
- leading and developing the divisional team fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and professionalism. Requirements Applications are invited from tertiary and CA/CPA qualified professionals with demonstrated experience in both financial and management accounting streams. Capability with corporate finance systems, managing teams, technical accounting and budgeting and forecasting functions will be expected. A team-oriented interpersonal style, highly developed communication, negotiation and relationship building skills and strong business and commercial acumen will be key to a successful appointment.
