We are currently seeking an experienced, motivated, and hands‑on Horticulturist to join our Horticulture team at Adelaide Zoo. This is a full‑time, 6-month contract role working across a 5‑day roster. About the role Guided by Zoos SA’s values, you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the beautiful, immersive environments that support both our animals and visitor experience. Working within a supportive team, you will deliver high‑quality horticulture outcomes safely, efficiently, and with pride. In this role, you will
- Contribute to the landscaping, maintenance, and presentation of habitats and grounds, including at Zoos SA's Bamboo plantation
- Identify and manage a wide range of plant species
- Assist with the collection of browse and materials for animal care and habitat development
- Maintain high standards across all public and behind‑the‑scenes spaces
- Work collaboratively with team members, while also being confident working independently About you You are a practical, proactive horticulturist who takes pride in your work and enjoys contributing to a team environment. You bring strong communication skills and a genuine interest in supporting a purpose‑driven organisation. To be successful, you will have
- A current driver’s licence, manual capability desirable
- A White Card
- Demonstrated knowledge of horticultural techniques and practices
- A robust understanding of Workplace Health and Safety principles
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with colleagues, volunteers, and visitors Desirable candidates will also
