We are now seeking an exceptional Manager Signalling Maintenance to lead the delivery of signalling maintenance across one of South Australia’s most critical transport networks. This is not a desk-bound management role. This is a leadership role at the frontline of rail operations — leading teams, improving performance, strengthening safe‑working culture, and ensuring our signalling assets are maintained to the highest standard. About the Role Reporting to the Director, Infrastructure Maintenance, you will lead the delivery of preventative, corrective, and reactive maintenance across the signalling network. You will be responsible for ensuring signalling assets are maintained safely, compliantly, and reliably in accordance with Technical Maintenance Plans, engineering standards, safe‑working requirements, and operational priorities. You will lead frontline maintenance teams, coordinate emergency response capability, manage operational performance, and work closely with engineering, operations, renewals, and project stakeholders to continuously improve network reliability and safety outcomes. This role plays a critical part in delivering a safe and dependable railway for the people of Adelaide. What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Leading and developing high‑performing signalling maintenance teams
- Driving a strong safety and safe‑working culture aligned to Zero Harm principles
- Delivering planned, corrective, and emergency signalling maintenance activities
- Ensuring compliance with Rail Safety National Law, engineering standards, and Technical Maintenance Plans
- Managing fault response, defect rectification, and asset performance outcomes
- Leading rostering, on‑call arrangements, and operational readiness
- Managing maintenance budgets, labour forecasting, and resource allocation
- Supporting competency development and workforce capability uplift
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives across maintenance delivery and asset performance
- Building strong relationships with operational, engineering, and external stakeholders
- Ensuring accurate maintenance reporting and asset data management within Maximo About You You are a credible and capable operational leader with deep signalling experience and the ability to earn trust from frontline teams. You understand that great maintenance leadership is about more than technical knowledge — it is about visibility, accountability, decision‑making under pressure, and creating a culture where people look after each other and take pride in delivering quality work. You will ideally bring:
- Extensive experience in rail signalling maintenance and/or signalling infrastructure management
- Proven leadership experience managing frontline maintenance teams in a safety‑critical environment
- Strong knowledge of signalling systems, maintenance practices, fault response, and asset management principles
- Experience working within regulated rail environments and safe‑working frameworks
- Strong planning, coordination, and problem‑solving capability
- A collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence across multiple disciplines
- Experience managing operational budgets, resources, and maintenance performance
- A commitment to safety leadership, workforce development, and continuous improvement Qualifications & Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Electrical, Electronic, Rail Signalling, or related discipline — or equivalent industry experience
- Certificate IV or equivalent in Rail Signalling highly regarded
- Current Driver’s Licence
- Current Rail Industry Worker (RIW) Card
