Description
An Australian R&D; and manufacturing company developing advanced defence and industrial systems is expanding its team and is now hiring an Electrical Engineer to support the design and validation of onboard electrical systems for deployable platforms. In this role, you will focus on power distribution, system level electrical analysis, and component selection across low voltage platforms, ensuring protected, reliable, and compliant operation in demanding environments. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams across mechanical, embedded software, and systems engineering to define electrical architectures, perform load analysis, and validate system performance from concept through to deployment. The position offers a hands‑on environment where your work directly impacts real world systems operating in field conditions. This is a full time role based in Adelaide. For interstate candidates, relocation is required (relocation allowance will be provided). Due to the nature of the work, Australian Citizenship is required. Key Responsibilities
- Design and analyse electrical power distribution systems across low voltage platforms (primarily 28V systems).
- Perform load analysis, power budgeting, and system sizing to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Select and integrate electrical components including batteries, cables, connectors, circuit breakers, and relays.
- Develop and review electrical schematics and system level designs focused on power architecture rather than PCB level design.
- Conduct electrical validation and verification activities, including compliance assessments such as D3I Triple 9 Series.
- Work closely with systems, mechanical, and embedded teams to support integration and overall system performance.
- Support testing activities in both lab and field environments, including fault finding and troubleshooting.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of electrical design processes and documentation. Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience working on power distribution, electrical systems, or system level electrical design.
- Strong understanding of batteries, cabling, connectors, protection devices, and low voltage electrical systems.
- Experience performing load analysis, power budgeting, or similar system level electrical calculations.
- Ability to work across the full lifecycle from design through to testing and validation.
- Strong problem solving skills with a practical, hands‑on approach to engineering challenges.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work within multidisciplinary teams. Desirable but not essential
- Experience in aerospace, defence, UAV, or automotive electrical systems.
- Familiarity with 28V electrical architectures or similar low voltage mobile platforms.
- Experience with compliance, safety, or military/defence electrical standards.
- Exposure to field testing, ruggedised systems, or deployable platforms operating in harsh environments. Please reach out to for more info. #J-18808-Ljbffr Apply on Kit Job: kitjobau.com/job/3rsj5w
