As our Transmission & Distribution (T&D;) team continues to grow, we’re looking for a mid‑career Primary Engineer who is ready to help shape the next wave of high‑voltage (HV) infrastructure across Australia and the APAC region. If you’ve built strong technical foundations in primary substation design and are looking for bigger opportunities, more ownership, and a clear pathway to Principal or Technical roles, this could be your next step. - Lead primary design and design review for substations (22kV–500kV) for utilities, renewable energy projects and data centres.
- Produce and review key deliverables including layouts, SLDs, sections and equipment specs.
- Form trusted relationships with clients and act as a technical advisor.
- Drive project delivery, ensuring scope, schedule and quality targets are met.
- Mentor and develop engineers across our Substations team.
- Collaborate closely with Civil, Structural and Secondary teams on integrated solutions.
- Engage with Jacobs’ Global Community of Practice for APAC wide knowledge sharing. Here’s what you’ll need
- Experience in HV Primary Electrical Engineering and a good understanding of HV design standards (particularly Australian Standards).
- Familiarity with utility design standards and guidelines.
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical direction and support multi‑discipline design coordination.
- Confidence in client engagement and relationship building.Li>

- Exposure to AIS and GIS substations would be advantageous.
