As the Quality Assurance Engineer, you will be responsible for testing and validating various aspects of the operational system, with a focus on security, functionality, performance, usability, and compliance, contributing to the overall quality and reliability of the Digital ID technology solution. You will work with others responsible for operating, maintaining, and improving the Branch’s technology solutions by helping to ensure testing effort is well aligned with the quality outcomes of the branch. You will utilise various automated testing tools and techniques to confirm that systems and services function as specified, while also validating the operating workplace, tools and processes are behaving appropriately. About The Client The client’s Digital ID System is a key component of Australia’s broader digital transformation and is designed to strengthen the growing digital economy in two main ways:
- It enables secure, convenient, voluntary, and inclusive methods of verifying identity in online transactions across both public and private sectors, while protecting the privacy and security of personal information
- It helps build trust in digital identity services, streamlines access to online services, and supports continued growth of the digital sector The Digital ID System Regulator
- Accrediting providers of digital identity services
- Approving participation in the Australian Government Digital ID System
- Conducting compliance monitoring and enforcement activities relating to non‑privacy aspects of the system Contract Details Estimated start date: Wednesday, 01 July 2026 Initial contract duration: 12 months Number of extensions: 2 Experience level: Senior
- EL1 equivalent Location of work: QLD, WA, ACT, VIC, NSW, NT, SA, TAS Working arrangements: Hybrid. The client has a requirement to attend the office for 40% of your time each week. Security clearance: Must be an Australian Citizen able to obtain Baseline Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop acceptance criteria for functional and non-functional requirements, business processes, features, user stories and business rules
- Design and execute test cases and scenarios to ensure products, systems and services fulfil acceptance criteria and deliver the expected business benefits
- Work with project team members to ensure comprehensive test coverage. Discuss potential improvements and analyse and communicate the results of testing activities
- Provide guidance to support the proper use of methods and tools, tailoring processes in accordance with standards, reviewing usage and suggesting improvements
- Assess system behaviour against provided requirements and characteristics through both manual and automated testing
- Employ specific tools to evaluate user experiences, ensuring security, usability and accessibility requirements have been met
- Ensure alignment with established policies, standards, regulations and manage audits related to compliance. Communicate results with branch stakeholders to improve compliance of the technology solutions where necessary
- Ensure changes are thoroughly tested, meet quality standards, and are seamlessly integrated into the system. Plan and execute tests, conduct regression, functional, security, performance testing, and work closely with the development teams
- Actively participate in software requirements, analysis, and design phases to provide continuous quality feedback. Work closely with Business Analysts, Developers and other stakeholders to ensure the solutions meet the requirements and expectations of the end users
- Work closely with developers to understand technical aspects of features and changes. Collaborate with cyber security teams to align testing efforts with security objectives Qualifications
- Level 5 (SFIA) in Testing: Plans and drives testing activities across all stages and iterations of product, systems and service development. Provides authoritative advice and guidance on any aspect of test planning and execution. Adopts and adapts appropriate testing methods, automated tools and techniques to solve problems in tools and testing approaches. Measures and monitors applications of standards for testing. Assesses risks and takes preventative action.
