Responsibilities
- Reporting to the General Manager Planning & Community, responsible for the strategic integration, performance and culture of the City Development Unit.
- Oversee development assessment, development engineering, building rules assessment, compliance and associated administrative functions, ensuring coordinated, efficient and customer-focused services that support the community's vision as outlined in the Strategic Plan **** and Community Plan ****.
- Exercise statutory powers as Council's Assessment Manager under the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act ****, managing operations and providing high-level advice to the Council Assessment Panel.
- Exhibit sophisticated political acumen, solid governance capability and the ability to make transparent, well-considered decisions in a complex legislative environment.
- Lead a multidisciplinary team of approximately 20 professionals. Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in planning, building, property development or a related field.
- Extensive senior experience in development assessment or a comparable regulatory environment.
- Accreditation as an Accredited Qualified (Level 1) under the PDI Act, or the ability to obtain and maintain this accreditation.
- Strategic thinking, exceptional communication skills and ability to build productive relationships with the development industry, government agencies, elected members and the community.
