Description
BG&E; is a civil and structural engineering consultancy. We partner with clients and stakeholders to challenge the status quo and push the boundaries of engineering. Responsibilities
- Develop effective geotechnical design solutions across various scenarios and sectors.
- Prepare reports, specifications, and site investigation briefs.
- Draft proposals with attention to commercial aspects and project quoting.
- Undertake geotechnical design on simple and complex situations including proficient use of finite element analysis.
- Manage small to medium projects from inception, including budgeting, forecasting, and invoicing.
- Conduct site visits for construction phase services, bid meetings, and pavement condition assessments, with occasional short‑term interstate travel.
- Collaborate confidently with external partners, clients, and internal stakeholders, and communicate effectively.
- Assist the BG&E; South Australian team and the Victorian Geotechnical Lead in client relationship development, team training and mentoring, and fostering strong interdisciplinary relationships.
- Be a key member of BG&E;’s National Geotechnical team and be involved in a range of projects nationally. Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geology or Engineering Geology.
- Ideally 7 years of relevant experience in Geotechnical Engineering within an Australian‑based multi‑disciplinary engineering consultancy, ideally in South Australia.
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or currently pursuing CPEng accreditation.
- Strong technical background and analytical skills in foundation solutions (e.g., deep foundations, rafts, piled rafts, etc.), engineering geology and/or geotechnical interpretation of ground conditions, soil‑structure interaction and finite element analysis, deep excavations, retaining wall design and construction, pavement design and construction, rail track formation design, and geotechnical construction‑phase services.
- Proficiency in using software packages such as Slope/W or equivalent; Plaxis 2D & 3D or equivalent; Wallap or equivalent; RS Pile, DeepEx, Leapfrog, etc.
- Sound understanding of relevant engineering standards and guidelines, particularly the Australian Bridge Code AS, piling design AS, and local South Australian Department of Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) Standards and Specifications.
- Experience in the detailed design stage in major infrastructure projects from a multi‑disciplinary background is desirable. Benefits
