Australian Naval Infrastructure Pty Ltd (ANI) is the owner, developer and manager of the Osborne Naval Shipyards, supporting the Commonwealth’s Naval Shipbuilding Plan. ANI is responsible for designing, constructing and managing the shipyard infrastructure, including the new Nuclear-Powered Submarine Construction Yard to support the AUKUS program, and operating and maintaining common use facilities. ANI plays a pivotal role in delivering Australia’s naval shipbuilding capability, contributing to one of the nation’s most significant and complex infrastructure programs. Based in Adelaide, our work underpins the future of naval shipbuilding through world-class infrastructure at Osborne. ANI has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Nuclear Safety Advisor to join the Nuclear Stewardship group in Adelaide. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the establishment, implementation, and continual improvement of ANI’s nuclear safety plans and arrangements in accordance with regulatory, legislative and licencing obligations. You will provide specialist advice on nuclear safety, radiation protection, risk management as well as plan and implement Nuclear Stewardship initiatives. Responsibilities
- Support Nuclear Stewardship initiatives and projects including the creation, implementation and update of Nuclear Safety plans and arrangements.
- Preparation of briefs, papers, registers, and dashboards in support of Nuclear Safety.
- Manage Nuclear Safety records and information.
- Provide professional advice related to Nuclear Safety to the broader ANI business.
- Project management relating to Nuclear Safety initiatives.
- Assist with internal reviews, audits, inspections, and self‑assessments related to nuclear safety. Qualifications
- You are a technically minded skilled with a strong commitment to nuclear safety and safety culture. You will have excellent communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively in a team and have a curious, learning mindset with a systems thinking approach.
- You can maintain strong attention to detail with the ability to manage safety records and information while demonstrating an advanced commitment to nuclear safety and safety culture.
- Be an Australian citizen and be eligible to achieve and maintain a Security Clearance of NV1.
- Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering, or equivalent technical/vocational experience.
- 4-7 years of experience in a relevant Industry (nuclear preferred or high-risk regulated industries such as defence, mining, oil & gas, or aviation).
- Experience drafting and finalising technical reports, guidelines, process and other governance documentation.
- Sound project management aptitude in planning, coordinating and delivering work.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Direct experience within a nuclear safety, radiation protection or nuclear regulatory environment.
- Familiarity with nuclear safety management systems, international safety standards and frameworks.
- Experience supporting governance forums, committee reporting or regulatory engagement. Applicants must be able to either hold or be able to gain and maintain a Defence security clearance.
