About the Position Join our team as a BI Support Consultant, where you’ll own and manage our IBM Cognos Analytics platform from the operating system up. This is not a report‑development or dashboard‑design role – it’s a hands‑on technical position focused on performance, reliability and security. Our Support Consultants work in our Melbourne office as part of our Victorian Branch. Responsibilities
- Administer and diagnose issues within the Cognos platform and its supporting infrastructure, including Linux servers, email relays and database connectivity.
- Manage a containerised BI platform.
- Administer, patch, and performance‑tune IBM Cognos Analytics on Linux (RHEL).
- Troubleshoot email notification processes inside Cognos.
- Manage Cognos content store databases (SQL Server, Informix) – backups, reorganisations, connectivity.
- Perform Linux server administration and basic shell scripting for automation and monitoring.
- Troubleshoot Java applications (heap dumps, logs).
- Work with networking components (firewalls, basic networking and authentication). About You
- Experience with Business Intelligence (Cognos experience is a real bonus).
- Problem solving and issue resolution with attention to detail.
- Solid troubleshooting skills for Java‑based applications.
- Knowledge of networking and authentication fundamentals.
- Technical background in systems administration and infrastructure (bonus).
- Experience with Linux (RHEL) and enterprise databases (Informix, SQL Server, Postgres).
- Basic scripting skills (bash/shell; Python is a bonus).
- Knowledge of Pronto Xi or similar ERP software.
- A team player with solid interpersonal skills.
- A positive ‘can do’ attitude and work ethic.
