IT Support Officer (Casual/Part Time) (Altona North)

ACS Australia is currently seeking a proactive and hands-on IT Support Officer to support our onsite staff, hardware, and day-to-day IT operations. This role will act as the internal IT point of contact, working closely with our external Managed Service Provider (MSP) to maintain network performance, security, and system reliability. You will also contribute to our cybersecurity maturity by supporting uplift and sustainment activities aligned with the Australian Cyber Security Centre’s (ACSC) Essential Eight framework. Key Responsibilities Onsite IT Support
- Provide technical support to office and site-based staff
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and user access issues
- Set up and deploy laptops, desktops, and peripherals
- Manage onboarding and offboarding processes (accounts, devices, access)
- Maintain IT asset register and equipment lifecycle tracking Hardware & Infrastructure
- Maintain office IT equipment including workstations, printers, meeting room AV, and networking hardware
- Coordinate repairs, replacements, and warranty claims
- Ensure secure configuration and patching of endpoints
- Support backup and recovery verification processes MSP & Network Coordination
- Act as primary liaison with external MSP
- Log and escalate incidents appropriately
- Assist with network monitoring and service reviews
- Coordinate scheduled maintenance and upgrades
- Support documentation of network diagrams and system configurations Cybersecurity & Compliance (Essential Eight Alignment)
- Maintain awareness of the Essential Eight mitigation strategies
- Assist in implementation and sustainment of controls including:
- Patch management
- Multi-factor authentication (MFA)
- Application control awareness
- Restricting administrative privileges
- Backup verification
- Support policy documentation and improvement
- Participate in internal audits and compliance reviews
- Help embed cybersecurity awareness practices across the business Essential Skills & Experience
- 3+ years in IT support or systems administration
- Experience working with or alongside an MSP
- Strong troubleshooting skills across Windows environments
- Experience managing hardware deployment and support
- Understanding of network fundamentals (firewalls, switches, VPNs)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration
- Clear communication skills and ability to support non-technical users Desirable Skills & Experience
- Familiarity with the ACSC Essential Eight framework
- Exposure to cybersecurity uplift programs
- Basic scripting or automation skills
- Relevant IT certifications
- Experience in an engineering, construction, or project-based workplace
- Administration/maintenance of ERP Systems Personal Attributes
