Student Advocate | UNE Life | Armidale, NSW (multiple opportunities) About the Role Join UNE Life, a dynamic not-for-profit entity of the University of New England, committed to enhancing the student experience and supporting our wider community. Our Advocacy & Welfare Services team provides independent student advocacy and support to UNE students navigating complex academic, financial, legal and personal matters. We are seeking Student Advocates to join our small, dedicated team based at the Armidale campus. What You’ll Do
- Provide direct, confidential advocacy support to students across a broad range of matters
- Help students prepare for and participate in meetings, hearings and university processes
- Interpret and apply relevant UNE policies/procedures and key external guidelines impacting students
- Maintain accurate electronic case records and contribute to service reporting and trend insights
- Refer students to appropriate internal and external supports when needed
- Promote Advocacy & Welfare services and build constructive relationships across UNE What We’re Looking For
- Tertiary qualification (or equivalent) in social work/sciences, law or similar
- Proven capability interpreting and applying complex rules, procedures and legislation
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to manage sensitive or high-pressure conversations
- Sound judgement, confidentiality and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Cultural awareness and an inclusive, student-centred approach
