About the Role We are currently working with a well-established architecture and design firm, in recruiting an Interior Designer based in Sydney. Our client is dedicated to innovation and delivering high-quality design solutions. The role involves working across residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects, supporting the design process from concept through to documentation and delivery. Key Responsibilities
- Consult with clients to determine project requirements, objectives, budget, and timelines.
- Develop design concepts, layouts, and space planning solutions for interior environments.
- Prepare sketches, drawings, mood boards, and 3D visualisations to communicate design intent.
- Select and specify materials, finishes, furniture, fittings, and colour schemes.
- Produce detailed documentation including plans, specifications, and schedules for construction and installation.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant building codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor project progress and assist in resolving design-related issues during construction.
- Review and evaluate design outcomes to ensure alignment with client expectations and project objectives. Competencies and Experience Required
- Solid capability in interior design, space planning, and design documentation across various project types.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools.
- Understanding of construction methods, materials, and interior detailing.
- Knowledge of relevant Australian standards, building codes, and compliance requirements.
- Ability to interpret client briefs and translate them into practical design solutions.
- Effective project coordination and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for client and stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Minimum Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Interior Design or a closely related field.
- Relevant industry experience in interior design projects is preferred. Work Health and Safety
- Takes reasonable care for their own health and safety and ensures their actions or omissions do not adversely affect others.
- Complies with AFORM’s workplace safety procedures.
- Applies broad knowledge of AFORM’s Safety Management System, WHS legislation, and risk management principles.
