Watch a short video here: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Purchasing Officer to join our friendly team at our Perth Airport catering unit on a full-time permanent basis. You will play a key role in the purchasing, receiving, and issuing of goods to ensure sufficient stock levels are maintained to support high-volume production in a fast-paced aviation catering environment. Working closely with the Purchasing Manager and operational teams, you will help ensure the smooth and efficient flow of goods across one of Australia’s key airline catering facilities. About the role As Purchasing Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring all materials and products are purchased, received, stored, and issued in line with company standards, operational demand, and strict food safety requirements. Key responsibilities
- Maintain solid relationships with suppliers and internal operational teams
- Raise purchase orders in accordance with company systems and procedures
- Manage stock levels across onsite and offsite storage, ensuring correct rotation and availability
- Ensure all deliveries comply with purchase orders and documentation requirements
- Apply HACCP, QSAI, WHS, and food safety standards at all times
- Use passenger forecasts to support accurate purchasing and stock planning
- Inspect deliveries for quality, temperature control, hygiene, and compliance
- Ensure perishable goods are received via approved refrigerated/frozen transport
- Monitor use-by and best-before dates to minimise waste
- Maintain clean and compliant storage areas including cool rooms and freezers
- Complete monthly stocktakes and reporting requirements
- Record wastage and monitor inventory accuracy
- Report non-conforming products and supplier issues
- Support continuous improvement of procurement and stores processes About you
- Experience in purchasing, stores, inventory, or supply chain environments
- Knowledge of HACCP, food safety, WHS, and quality systems (QSAI desirable)
- Experience using ERP systems (highly regarded)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel and Outlook preferred)
- Understanding of stores and warehousing procedures
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach
- Forklift licence (or willingness to obtain within 3 months)
- Airline catering or food manufacturing experience (desirable) What's in it for you?
