Description
This is not a back-office admin role. This is about keeping real projects moving. As our Purchasing Officer, you will sit at the heart of our production and project operations, sourcing and procuring materials, managing supplier relationships, and making sure the right products arrive at the right time so our teams can deliver. We’re looking for someone who knows how procurement works and is ready to own it. If you’ve built supplier relationships, managed purchase cycles and understand what it means to keep a production environment supplied and on schedule, this is a role where that experience will be put to real use from day one. We’re also open to strong candidates earlier in their careers who bring the right attitude and commercial instincts. Either way, this is primarily an office-based coordination role working closely with production and project teams, managing orders and relationships, and making sure the right materials arrive at the right time. The satisfaction comes from keeping things moving behind the scenes. About Spective Group Spective Group is a market leading Australian façade and building products business based in Bayswater, Melbourne. We deliver complex, high-value projects across healthcare, infrastructure, commercial and specialist buildings nationally. We design and manufacture locally, solve hard problems, and back our people to build real careers, not just tick boxes. We value people who are curious, hands-on, commercially aware, and proud of what they create. We take the work seriously. We don't take ourselves too seriously. Responsibilities Procurement & Supplier Management ● Source and procure materials and services for the manufacture and installation of windows, curtain wall systems, cladding and related façade products ● Liaise and negotiate with suppliers to achieve competitive pricing, reliable supply and strong working relationships ● Research and identify new suppliers to improve quality, lead times and commercial outcomes ● Visit suppliers when required to strengthen communication and technical understanding ● Monitor and track delivery schedules to ensure materials arrive on time Project & Operational Support ● Work closely with design, production and project teams to understand material needs ● Provide order status updates at internal production meetings and assist with meeting minutes ● Assist in the preparation of Operation and Maintenance Manuals ● Support resolution of supply, delivery or specification issues as they arise ● Complete occasional small deliveries or collections when required Commercial & Administration ● Enter and manage purchase order data accurately in accounting software ● Work collaboratively with Accounts Payable to resolve invoicing discrepancies ● Maintain accurate records of orders, supplier communications and documentation ● Undertake general administrative tasks that support procurement operations What We Are Looking For We prioritise cultural fit and general intelligence over direct technical skills so the right person matters more than the perfect CV. Ideally, you’ll bring solid procurement or supply chain experience and a confident understanding of how to manage suppliers, orders and timelines in a fast-moving environment. If you’re earlier in your career but have the commercial awareness and drive to back it up, we’re open to that conversation too. Skills & Experience ● Strong written and verbal communication skills ● Basic ability to read construction drawings and technical documentation (or willingness to learn) ● Commercial awareness and a sound understanding of cost control ● Understanding of building materials or construction processes (advantageous but not essential) ● Strong numerical skills and computer literacy ● High attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities ● A team-oriented approach and ability to work well within a team Personal Attributes ● Practical, organised and solution-focused ● Proactive in following up and seeing tasks through to completion ● Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment ● Confident communicating with a range of internal and external stakeholders ● Professional, reliable and brings a positive attitude to the team Our Values We value our customers, our colleagues and our communities. We take pride in all we do and work together toward sustainable excellence every day. All Spective Group employees must demonstrate a commitment to work health and safety and an affinity for our values: Customer Focus, Striving for Excellence, Solve Together, Enjoy the Ride Apply on Kit Job: kitjobau.com/job/3s52b0
