Overview

As a Mechanical Fitter at Wilmar Sugar & Renewables, you will engage in hands‑on maintenance and repairs within our mill’s crushing stations, focusing on essential components such as hydraulics, gearboxes and pumps. This permanent position is based at Pioneer Mill in North Queensland’s Burdekin region and follows a day‑work roster, with occasional weekend work and overtime.

Your Role in Action

Participate in preventative maintenance programs, troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and assist with fault reporting and repairs to ensure optimal factory operations.

Provide guidance and leadership to apprentices and trainees, defining tasks, performance targets and offering on‑the‑job training and feedback.

Liaise with the Work Coordinator on costs, scheduling expenditures and assess the economic life and performance of assets to drive continuous improvement.

Ensure all work orders and permits are accurately completed while maintaining timesheets and standard reports for seamless operations.

Conduct inspections, identify problems and implement improvements to uphold the highest quality standards.

Your Winning Combination

Our ideal candidate holds a Certificate III in Engineering – (Mechanical Fitting), a current Confined Space certificate, a valid Protected Working at Heights certificate and a manual driver’s licence. Additional certificates are advantageous but not required.
