Operations Coordinator – Kalamia Mill (Ayr)

About the Role In your role as an Operations Coordinator at Kalamia Mill, you’ll play a pivotal part in driving the performance of our site operations. As a key member of the on‑site team, you’ll lead and monitor cane crushing and sugar recovery activities, ensuring production plans are achieved safely, efficiently, and consistently. You’ll take ownership of the shift team’s day‑to‑day performance, guiding them to meet targets across rate, reliability, and recovery. This is a hands‑on, fast‑paced role where your ability to coordinate workflows, solve problems in real time, and communicate effectively with both your team and a wide range of stakeholders will set you up for success. - Lead shift operations across cane crushing, sugar production, and power generation to deliver safe, reliable performance.
- Champion a strong safety culture by identifying hazards, supporting improvements, and ensuring secure work practices are followed.
- Track and analyse plant performance, using data to identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
- Coordinate day‑to‑day operations including maintenance planning, shutdowns, and accurate shift reporting.
- Support and develop your team through coaching, clear communication, and fostering a positive, collaborative workplace. About you We are looking for someone who brings Essential
- Experience in a heavy industrial or operational environment, or a relevant engineering/trade qualification.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to adapt quickly, work under pressure, and make sound operational decisions.
- Proven leadership capability, with experience guiding and influencing diverse teams.

- Experience in the sugar industry.
- Understanding of WHS and environmental legislation, regulations, and Codes of Practice.
- Knowledge of the Sugar Industry Act and Sugar Industry Code of Practice.
- Experience using SAP and other milling/operational systems (e.g., Databank, Cane Systems).
