Our client King Star Homes Pty ltd is looking for a skilled carpenter to join their team. Job description:
· Studying drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine material requirements and installation methods.
· Measuring, marking, and cutting timber and other materials to the required dimensions using hand tools and power tools.
· Constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures made from wood, plywood, wallboard, and other materials.
· Installing framework, flooring systems, subfloors, roof structures, and wall framing in accordance with building plans.
· Assembling and fixing internal and external fittings such as doors, windows, and staircases.
· Ensuring all structures are level, square, and aligned using appropriate measuring instruments.
· Repairing and renovating existing structures, by removing and replacing damaged or deteriorated framework and fixtures.
· Selecting, cutting, and shaping materials to meet structural and design specifications.
· Wear appropriate PPE and use and store tools and equipment safely.
· Applying safe work practices and complying with building codes, regulations, and workplace safety standards. To be considered suitable for the position of Carpenter, the candidate must meet the following minimum criteria:
- A relevant AQF Certificate III in Carpentry or Certificate III in Carpentry and Joinery, or equivalent overseas qualification assessed as comparable, OR,
- In the absence of formal qualifications, a minimum of three (3) years of full-time, relevant work experience as a Carpenter, demonstrating trade-level competency consistent with ANZSCO skill level requirements.
- Proven 1 year of experience in performing structural and general carpentry work and executing work independently.
- Proficiency in using a range of hand tools and power tools relevant to carpentry.
- Sound understanding of:
- building and construction methods
- relevant Australian Standards and building codes
- workplace health and safety requirements
- Ability to perform tasks with a high degree of autonomy and trade judgment, including:
- making on-site adjustments
- resolving construction challenges
