Swim School Instructor Here at CBCity The City of Canterbury Bankstown is one of the largest Councils in NSW, delivering a wide range of services to one of Sydney’s most diverse communities. Opening late 2026, the new Canterbury Leisure & Aquatic Centre is set to become the heart of health, fitness and fun in our community. We are now recruiting a number of Swim School Instructors to help deliver protected, engaging and high-quality Learn to Swim programs across our Leisure and Aquatic centres. The role We are seeking enthusiastic and qualified Swim School Instructors to join our team on a casual basis. In this role, you will deliver Learn to Swim classes for children and adults, support water safety education and create a positive, inclusive and enjoyable learning workplace for our community. Duties will include but not be limited to:
- Deliver Learn to Swim classes in line with Council’s programs and aquatic industry standards.
- Create a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
- Communicate positively with students, parents, carers and customers.
- Set up and pack down equipment safely.
- Maintain required qualifications and participate in training and team briefings. For a full list of duties, click HERE to review the position description. You will have:
- Austswim, Swim Australia or Royal Life Saving Swim Instructor qualification.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
- Current Working with Children Check, if you are 18 years or over.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends.
- Evidence of full unrestricted working rights in Australia. Recruitment process Shortlisted applicants may be invited to complete online screening/testing and attend an Engagement Centre as part of the recruitment process. Key dates:
- Applications close Friday 12 June 2026
- Online testing issued from 13 June 2026 and closes 15 June 2026
- Engagement Centre (recruitment interview session) set to take place 17 June 2026 and 18 June 2026.
- Expected role commencement 1 September 2026 Applicants are encouraged to ensure they have their required qualifications, First Aid, CPR and NSW Working with Children Check (if over 18), ready to provide during the recruitment process. Applicants will also be required to complete relevant pre-employment checks, which may include reference checks, a medical assessment and verification of qualifications and clearances. The hourly pay rate commences at $39.23 per hour, including casual loading, and 12% super. What’s on offer
