Estimator/Programmer (Milperra)

Metal Shop Technics (MST) has specialised in metal forming and rolling since 1956 and services a wide range of customers across NSW, focusing on the Hunter Valley and Greater Newcastle regions. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Estimator / Programmer to join our team in a dual-site role across our Milperra and Kurri Kurri branches. This position will be a hybrid work arrangement with the requirement of travel to our Kurri Kurri site, with all travel costs covered by the company. In this role, you will be required to promote and estimate the services offered by MST to both existing and recent customers. Working both autonomously and within a successful sales team, a large part of your day will involve interpreting customer requirements by analysing engineering and CAD drawings, as well as handling sales enquiries over the phone. The support of the Milperra team will also be available as required. Reporting to the Manager, your duties will include:
- Correctly entering data into the CAD system and maintaining the CAD file system
- Handling general sales enquiries along with preparing and following up quotations
- Interacting with and assisting internal team members
- Nesting programs for CNC machines to maximise efficiency
- Coordinating the processing and estimating of steel
- Liaising with customers and operators while analysing workshop detail drawings Ideally applicants will have the following skills and experience:
- Ability to read and interpret engineering / structural drawings, including CAD experience
- Experience with drafting packages and/or programming CNC profile machines
- Knowledge of the steel and engineering industries will be highly regarded
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with strong computer skills
