Overview The City of Canterbury Bankstown is one of the largest councils in NSW with a diverse cultural, social and economic community. We deliver 28 key services, including childcare, waste collection, parks maintenance, libraries, community facilities and aquatic centres, to more than 385,000 residents. Location: Bankstown and Campsie, New South Wales. Role Summary Join a agile, community‑focused library team where no two days are the same! In this role you’ll be at the heart of daily library operations, assisting customers, delivering exceptional service, and promoting exciting library programmes to the community. You’ll also participate in a flexible staff rotation program, gaining experience across different teams and locations, as well as occasional evening shifts within the City of Canterbury Bankstown Library Service. Responsibilities
- Provide high quality, customer‑focused and professional service and help maintain a positive library environment.
- Assist and deliver library programmes and activities, and promote library services and resources to the community.
- Support the team in managing day‑to‑day library operations and service delivery.
- Liaise with relevant teams to provide accurate and timely information services to customers.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions to maintain current professional knowledge and awareness.
- Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in supporting continuous improvement, including identifying issues and recommending solutions.

- Eligibility for membership of the Australian Library and Information Association, or relevant industry experience.
- A valid Working with Children Check.
- Demonstrated strong commitment to delivering high‑quality customer service in a diverse, cross‑cultural environment.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with members of the public, business unit customers, team members and external partners.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload and follow instructions while working with minimal supervision.
- Full list of Essential Experience can be found in the position description. Salary range starts at $71,820 (Grade D, Step 1) + 12% super. Salary may be negotiable dependent on skills and experience. Benefits
