Our client is a leading Australian supplier and distributor of premium timber and building materials. They are seeking a driven and commercially minded Business Development Manager to grow their footprint across the residential construction market, focusing on builders, carpenters, and timber trade professionals.

This role will be responsible for generating new business opportunities, developing long-term client relationships, and driving sales across their structural timber and engineered wood product range.

Your recent role


- Identify, target, and secure new business opportunities within the residential construction sector


- Build strong relationships with volume builders, project builders, carpenters, and subcontractors


- Promote the full product suite, with a strong focus on structural timber, LVL, I-joists, plywood, and engineered timber solutions


- Develop and execute territory sales plans to achieve and exceed revenue targets


- Manage a portfolio of existing clients while growing share of wallet


- Provide tailored solutions that optimise cost, efficiency, and build outcomes for customers


- Maintain regular site visits and client engagement across multiple projects


- Stay across residential construction trends, pricing, and competitor activity


- Collaborate with internal teams (operations, logistics, estimating) to deliver seamless service

What you'll need to succeed


- Proven track record in business development or sales within timber


- Strong network within the residential building and carpentry sector


- Knowledge of structural timber, engineered wood products, or construction materials highly regarded


- Ability to engage with stakeholders ranging from site carpenters to project managers and procurement teams


- Commercially astute with strong negotiation and closing skills


- Self-motivated, proactive, and results-driven
