About the business
We are a thriving and dynamic firm practising primarily in family and criminal litigation. We are searching for an admitted solicitor to work closely with the Principal and the team. The firm has a solid stimulating, interesting and varied work inflow.
We are expanding and searching for the right candidate to assist our team. In return, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to grow and excel significantly in their legal career. We are open to fast-paced career progression.
About The Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist the Principal Lawyer and the team in a busy and thriving boutique practice;
- Working closely with the Principal on interesting, varied & complex Criminal, Family & Civil litigation law matters;
- Working autonomously and taking active carriage of files;
- Court attendance including hearings, mentions, procedural hearings, conciliation conferences, mediations, interim hearings, and instructing counsel in trials;
- Researching, drafting and managing Court documents including statement of claims, affidavits, orders, case outlines, submissions;
- Independently advising clients on matters including taking instructions, preparing letters of advice, general day to day correspondence and management of the file;
- Conferencing and advising Clients
Skills And Experience
What you must bring:
- Admitted as a solicitor in NSW with some PQE;
- You will have carriage of matters in the Local, District, Supreme Federal Circuit Court/ Family Court/ and you should be able to manage files;
- Advanced skills and experience with Microsoft applications Word, Excel, and Outlook;
- Experience in appearing in Court including running hearings;
- A "can-do" attitude and proactive approach in all aspects of Family/Civil law practice;
- A working knowledge of Criminal/Family/Civil litigation law;
- Exceptional drafting skills and written work;
- Exceptional time management and multi-tasking skills including ability to prioritise tasks and competing deadlines;
- A demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and organise workload to meet tight deadlines;
- Knowledge of PEXA and LEAP preferable but not essential.
