Description
The role Take the Lead as Coordinator Major Asset Maintenance. Step into an influential leadership position where you’ll oversee a diverse portfolio of high-profile Council facilities. As Coordinator Major Asset Maintenance, you’ll ensure the safe, effective, and compliant operation of key sites—including the Bankstown Civic Tower Precinct, Council’s operational depots, and the soon-to-be-constructed Campsie Hub. You’ll drive both planned and reactive maintenance programs, making a tangible impact on Council’s essential assets. In this dynamic role, you’ll be at the forefront of sustainability initiatives, strengthening security and emergency management systems, and championing continuous improvement across all maintenance activities. By collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring Council’s major assets run seamlessly and meet the diverse needs of the portfolio’s stakeholders. Duties
- Lead and supervise maintenance and security teams to deliver efficient, high-quality upkeep across multiple buildings and precincts within Council’s major asset portfolio.
- Coordinate both programmed and reactive maintenance, working closely with planning teams to manage a wide range of building systems, plant, and equipment.
- Ensure full statutory compliance and oversee security and access control systems, maintaining safe, secure, and well-managed facilities.
- Oversee carpark operations, including patrolling, monitoring, and enforcement, while coordinating with external authorities as needed.
- Drive continuous improvement by reviewing procedures, managing budgets, and preparing reports, correspondence, and responses to issues.
- Lead and support fit‑out projects across leased spaces, ensuring smooth delivery and high‑quality outcomes.
- In collaboration with the Maintenance Planning team, contribute to the preparation of appropriate reporting that supports a proactive approach to plant and equipment and building upgrades, as well as capital works planning across the portfolio of assets. Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in Facilities Management, Building, Construction or a similar field.
- Demonstrated experience in managing both programmed and responsive maintenance of building assets, with a strong understanding of asset lifecycle planning, compliance with building codes, tenancy legislation, and contract management.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate service providers to deliver high‑quality, cost‑effective maintenance outcomes.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement, particularly within local government or similar contexts, and a commitment to safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement in maintenance operations.
- Applicants must hold an Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or possess a valid work permit/visa with full unrestricted working rights. The salary range for this opportunity is $133,846 – $155,551 (Grade K, Step1) + 12% super + car allowance. Salary negotiable dependent on skills and experience. Benefits
