Upholstery Craftsman (Bathurst)

We are recruiting on behalf of a valued manufacturing client for an experienced Upholstery Craftsman to join their Production Team in Bathurst. This full-time position is ideal for a mid-level professional with strong upholstery expertise, hands-on craftsmanship and a commitment to producing high-quality finished products. You will play a critical role in the assembly, repair and finishing of upholstered items within a fast-paced production environment. - Interpret job specifications and production instructions to deliver high-quality upholstered products
- Strip, prepare and rebuild furniture frames ensuring structural integrity
- Perform precise cutting of foam, fabric, leather and vinyl materials
- Apply straining and tensioning techniques for optimal finish and durability
- Carry out foam gluing, stapling, sewing and final assembly processes
- Operate a range of machinery and tools, including:
- Industrial sewing machines
- Foam cutting equipment
- Adhesive spray equipment
- Panel saws and drop saws
- Air compressors, staple guns and nail guns
- Perform pattern matching and material layout for accuracy and minimal waste
- Ensure correct use of upholstery components including zips, piping, gimp, threads and fastenings
- Maintain strict adherence to quality control standards and production timelines
- Conduct basic maintenance and safe operation of tools and machinery
- Keep work areas clean, organised and compliant with safety standards
- Collaborate effectively within the Production Team Your Profile Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in upholstery, furniture manufacturing, or a similar trade
- Strong understanding of furniture construction, materials and finishing techniques
- Experience working with fabrics, leather and vinyl
- Proficiency in using industrial sewing machines and upholstery tools
- Knowledge of foam cutting, gluing and assembly processes
- Ability to read and interpret job specifications and technical instructions
- High attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship
