Sewing Machinist (Bathurst)

We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Sewing Machinist to join a well-established manufacturing operation based in Bathurst. Responsibilities As a Sewing Machinist, you will be responsible for operating a range of industrial sewing machinery and supporting the end-to-end production process. Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain industrial sewing machines, including:
- Plain sewer
- Walking foot machine
- Long arm machine
- Twin needle machine
- Decorative stitch machine
- Overlocker
- Leather skiving machine
- Perform material preparation tasks such as fabric cutting, pattern matching, and foam cutting
- Carry out sewing, overlocking, and assembly of fabric, leather, and vinyl components
- Execute finishing tasks including fitting covers and gluing processes
- Select appropriate threads, zips, cords, and materials for each task
- Understand product specifications to ensure quality standards are met
- Interpret work instructions (written and verbal) accurately
- Conduct routine machine maintenance and identify wear factors
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area
- Collaborate with the wider Production Team to meet output targets and deadlines Your Profile Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in an industrial sewing or manufacturing environment
- Proficiency operating a variety of industrial sewing machines
- Strong knowledge of fabrics, leather, vinyl and associated handling techniques
- Experience with pattern matching and precision cutting methods
- Understanding of threads, zips, cords, and sewing components
- Ability to interpret technical instructions and production plans
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
