We are seeking a motivated and experienced team member to join our Civil Maintenance team! This position has various responsibilities where each day you will be working on a broad range of civil maintenance and construction works allocated by Council’s Work Order System. Everyday responsibilities can include:
- Digging out material, preparing bases and installing concrete, paving or asphalt works.
- Operating plant and equipment (e.g. rollers, skid steers, compactors, jackhammers)
- Removing and installing road signs and other council infrastructure.
- Maintaining plant, equipment, and work areas to a high safety standard.
- Assisting with emergency response activities including storm and flooding events. Previous experience in civil construction or maintenance, Construction White Card and an MR Licence are essential. Backhoe, loader, excavator, skidsteer and/or forklift licences, and Workzone Traffic Management accreditation are highly desirable as well as the completion of a Certificate lll in Civil Construction. The successful candidate will have basic computer skills and have a flexible work approach to perform a wide variety of tasks guided by Council’s safe work practices. Be physically capable to meet the requirements of the the position and enjoy working outdoors. Good communication and time management skills as well as the ability to work as a part of a team is essential. The position is offered on a permanent, full time basis and is classified at Level ME 5/6, depending on experience and qualifications, under the City of Burnside Field Employees Enterprise Agreement 2023. The successful candidate will be required to undertake a Pre-employment Functional Assessment. You will be required to undertake a National Police Check as part of the on-boarding process and must have the right to live and work in Australia to apply for this position.
