A Processing Operator works in food manufacturing (like dairy plants) and is responsible for processing raw materials into finished products—for example, turning milk into cheese, butter, or powdered products.

This role focuses on operating processing equipment, ensuring product quality, and maintaining strict hygiene standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Equipment Operation

Operate processing machinery (pasteurizers, separators, mixers, tanks)

Start, monitor, and shut down equipment safely

Adjust controls (temperature, pressure, flow rates)

Production Processing

Measure and mix ingredients according to formulas

Monitor processing stages (heating, cooling, fermentation)

Ensure correct timing and sequence of operations

Quality Control

Check product quality (taste, texture, consistency)

Take samples for testing

Record production data and report issues

Cleaning & Sanitation

Clean and sanitize equipment (CIP – Clean-In-Place systems)

Maintain strict food safety and hygiene standards

Prevent contamination at all times

Safety Compliance

Follow workplace health and safety rules

Use PPE (gloves, hairnets, safety boots, goggles)

Handle chemicals and machinery safely

Tools & Equipment Used

Pasteurization and processing systems

Mixing tanks and pipelines

Temperature and pressure gauges

Automated control panels (PLC systems)

Cleaning systems (CIP equipment)

Skills and Qualifications

Basic Requirements

High school education (minimum)

Physically fit (standing, lifting, repetitive tasks)

Willing to work shifts (including nights)

Preferred Skills

Experience in food or dairy manufacturing

Basic mechanical or technical knowledge

Attention to detail and accuracy

Understanding of food safety standards (HACCP)
