Food Safety Officer (Victoria)

About This Role The Food Safety Officer is responsible for providing advice to Malmsbury staff on all aspects of food and food preparation at the Malmsbury Youth Justice Facility. The role coordinates the Food Safety Programs at the Malmsbury Youth Justice Precinct, ensuring compliance in all aspects of food safety. The Officer works across other Youth Justice Custodial Precincts (Parkville & Cherry Creek) as required. Key Responsibilities Coordinate Food Safety Programs at the Malmsbury site, ensuring compliance with all food safety regulations. Undertake training of new and current staff on all aspects of food safety, including hands‐on training during daily meal preparation. Monitor and provide monthly reports to management on the unit Food Safety Compliance Book, temperature records, cleaning schedules, kitchen cleanliness and sanitizer use. Provide authoritative and meaningful advice to employees and managers on all food safety issues. Work with food suppliers, staff and managers to continually improve the food safety, health and nutritional needs of clients. Liaise with the meals contractor to ensure all food‐related elements and food safety requirements of the contract are met. Assist with administrative, stores or other general business services tasks as required. Keep accurate and complete records of work activities in accordance with legislative requirements, department records, information security and privacy policies. Qualifications Experience in the food or hospitality industry. Sound knowledge of the regulations of the Food Safety Act ****. A current Food Safety Supervisor's Certificate. A current driver's licence. A current Working with Children Check (WWCC) card. Benefits VPS3 role salary range: $81,496
