- $114,****** p.a + 12% superannuation. Location Corporate Centre in Sandringham, with the flexibility to work from home. About the Role The purpose of the Team Leader Recreation position is to provide strong, effective leadership, strategic direction, and innovative thinking to the Recreation Services team, while contributing more broadly to the success of the Open Space and Recreation department. The role is focused on delivering high-quality sporting and recreation facilities and services by fostering productive relationships and providing ongoing support to leaseholders, licence holders, seasonally allocated tenants, open space and filming permit applicants and contract partners. Through proactive guidance, collaboration, and continuous improvement, the position ensures that facilities and services meet community needs, are sustainably managed, and align with organisational priorities. Responsibilities Assist the Coordinator with leading a dynamic team to administer the use of public open space including passive and active recreation spaces. Develop and foster positive relationships with sports clubs and community groups. Support sports clubs and user groups to build capability and achieve sustainable growth by providing guidance, resources, and opportunities that strengthen participation, governance, and long‐term financial viability. Assist in developing and reviewing the strategic framework relating to recreation. Oversee the open space and facility booking processes for Council facilities, including the granting of filming permits. Key Selection Criteria Tertiary qualification in recreation/leisure/sport or similar field. Demonstrated experience in leading and developing high‐performing teams, and aligning service delivery with broader organisational vision, values, strategic plans, and policies. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent contemporary knowledge of leisure and recreation services and facility administration and management. Highly developed day‐to‐day decision‐making and problem‐solving skills. Ability to identify risk management issues and take appropriate steps to mitigate risk to Council and the Bayside community. Experience building and developing the capacity of sporting clubs and community groups. Mandatory Pre‐employment Requirements Willingness to undergo and complete a satisfactory criminal history check. Provide or obtain an employment‐based Working with Children check.
