Occupational Hygiene Technician Safety Systems Bendigo is an independent occupational health and safety and occupational hygiene consultancy based in East Bendigo, operating since 2001. We are looking for an Occupational Hygiene Technician to support our hygiene team with field sampling, monitoring, and reporting across client sites in Victoria. About the role Reporting to the Occupational Hygienist, you will carry out occupational hygiene fieldwork and support the preparation of client reports. Your work will include:
- Conducting occupational hygiene sampling and monitoring, including asbestos, lead, dust, noise, and airborne contaminants
- Performing air monitoring and clearance inspections during asbestos removal works
- Coordinating samples to NATA accredited laboratories and managing the results
- Calibrating, servicing, and maintaining sampling equipment and instrumentation
- Entering and managing field data
- Assisting hygienists with report preparation
- Following documented sampling methods and the relevant Australian Standards
- Travelling to client sites across Victoria, with occasional overnight work What you will bring
- A degree in a science discipline (for example chemistry, biochemistry, or microbiology) or engineering discipline (for example civil or structural)
- A commitment to your own safety and the safety of others on site
- Completion of the Basic Principles of Occupational Hygiene course, or a willingness to complete it within 12 months of appointment
- Attention to detail and the ability to follow documented methods
- The ability to work independently and manage tasks within set timeframes
- Asbestos awareness, with an asbestos assessor licence regarded favourably
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Written and verbal communication skills
- A current driver’s licence, and a willingness to travel to client sites What's on offer
