Your Role
As the Senior Wills & Estates Lawyer, you will lead a growing practice area while managing a portfolio of complex and high-value matters. Your role blends hands‐on legal expertise with leadership, client strategy, and supervision.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
* Managing a diverse range of estate planning, probate, succession, and contested estate matters.
* Planning and drafting complex wills, including testamentary trusts, enduring powers of attorney, and other estate documents.
* Providing expert advice on asset protection, tax-effective structuring, and succession strategies for individuals, families, and businesses.
* Overseeing estate administration, probate applications, and trust management.
* Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers and graduates, fostering their professional growth.
* Collaborating with accountants, financial planners, and family lawyers to deliver holistic client outcomes.
* Maintaining strong, trust‐based client relationships with professionalism and empathy.
* Contributing to firm‐wide projects, innovation initiatives, and continuous improvement processes.
About You
You're a confident, detail‐oriented, and experienced practitioner who thrives on solving complex problems and building long‐term relationships. You take pride in your leadership and have a passion for mentoring others while contributing strategically to a growing practice.
Requirements
* Minimum 5‐8 years PAE in Wills & Estates or related areas.
* Proven expertise in estate planning, probate, administration, and succession law.
* Strong drafting and advisory skills in complex wills, trusts, and estate structures.
* Strong drafting and technical experience and knowledge in deed drafting, trust law, trusts, trust deeds, Self‐Managed Superannuation Fund deeds, Corporations Act and company constitutions.
* Experience managing your own matters end‐to‐end.
* Demonstrated ability to mentor junior lawyers and supervise support staff.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a client‐centric focus.
* Strong organisational skills and analytical thinking.
* Experience in estate planning for complex family circumstances and cross‐border assets.
* High attention to detail, ethics, and accountability.
* Leadership ambition and a genuine interest in Succession Law and team development.
Desirable (but not essential)
* Experience with high‐net‐worth clients or family offices.
* Exposure to commercial, asset protection, or tax‐effective structuring.
* Accreditation (or intent to pursue accreditation) in Wills & Estates / Succession Law.
