Salary: Negotiable, plus allowances & entitlements About PCA Ground Engineering PCA Ground Engineering is an innovative company offering design and construction ground engineering services to both private and public sector clients. We target both subcontract and principal subcontractor works and we are looking for a Senior Design Engineer to join our team in the Gold Coast. The Senior Design Engineer will be joining an established and high-performing Engineering team, you'll work across the business and support our estimating and project management teams. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and analysis of piling and retention systems (bored, CFA, driven, micropiles, diaphragm walls, secant piles, and sheet piles) for various projects.
- Perform geotechnical and structural assessments to develop safe, efficient, and economical designs.
- Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, and technical reports to support project delivery.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring for junior engineers and drafters.
- Collaborate with internal and external clients, project managers, and construction teams to optimise design solutions.
- Conduct site inspections and risk assessments to ensure designs are implemented correctly.
- Ensure compliance with Australian Standards, local regulations, and best engineering practices.
- Experience in structural steel design would be highly regarded.
- Support tendering and business development activities by providing technical input and value engineering solutions to the Estimating team.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, new technologies, and sustainability initiatives in piling and geotechnical engineering.
- Monitor changes to designs and assist the Project Managers to effectively manage changes within Client agreed programme.
- Participate in, and support industry best practice, health, safety and environmental initiatives.
- Carry out Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities within the design team.
- A “Can Do” attitude, we are looking for a new team member that seeks solutions and alternatives to conforming designs. Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or Structural Engineering.
- Residency and a right to work in Australia
- 5+ years of experience in piling, geotechnical, or foundation engineering within the Australian construction industry.
- General understanding of geology along the Australian east coast and how they impact piling solutions.
- Experience with pile load testing, lateral stability analysis, and settlement assessments.
- Proficiency in geotechnical and structural analysis software such as Plaxis, WALLAP, Piglet, Lpile, Group, Structural Toolkit, Spacegass or similar tools.
- Proficiency in drafting with AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of Australian Standards (AS 2159, AS 3600, AS 2870, AS 1170) and local authority requirements.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills to liaise with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Chartered status (CPEng) with Engineers Australia or Registered Engineer status would be highly regarded. What PCA Offers
