As we continue to scale nationally, we're looking for a strategic and commercially minded Compliance Manager to strengthen our compliance framework, support operational excellence, and help drive sustainable growth across the business. The Opportunity This is a high-impact leadership role where you'll sit at the centre of operations, sales, technical teams, and executive leadership — ensuring Smart Energy remains compliant, scalable, and future-focused. You'll take ownership of regulatory compliance, risk management, policy development, WHS oversight, and governance across multiple business functions. You'll ensure our internal processes, contractor management, sales practices, and operational frameworks align with relevant Australian laws, SAA standards, WHS requirements, and state rebate program obligations. This role is ideal for someone who can balance strategic thinking with hands-on operational execution. What You'll Be Doing Policy & Regulatory Compliance Develop, implement, and maintain company compliance policies and frameworks. Ensure alignment with Australian laws, CEC guidelines, rebate programs, WHS, finance, licensing, and privacy requirements. Monitor regulatory updates and implement changes across the business. Provide practical compliance guidance to leadership and operational teams. Identify, document, and manage operational and regulatory risks. Oversee contractor and installer compliance, licensing, and accreditation requirements. Conduct audits, investigations, incident reporting, and risk assessments. Ensure insurance policies remain current and compliant. Communicate key risks and compliance matters to executive leadership. Training & Governance Deliver compliance training and regulatory updates across departments. Partner with Sales, Operations, Technical, and Leadership teams to embed compliance into day-to-day operations. Liaise with legal counsel and external advisors where required. Support ongoing process improvement and governance initiatives. Review sales and marketing material to ensure regulatory compliance and ethical conduct. Ensure customer agreements and disclosures remain transparent and compliant. Assist with complaint management relating to sales conduct and customer outcomes. Qualifications You're a proactive and commercially aware compliance professional who understands how to balance governance with operational efficiency. You'll ideally bring: Experience in a Compliance, Risk, Governance, or Regulatory role. Strong understanding of Australian regulatory environments and compliance frameworks. Experience working across operational and cross-functional business environments. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills. Strong problem-solving and policy implementation capability. Ability to work autonomously while influencing multiple departments. Bonus points if you have experience within: Construction or electrical industries. Finance, consumer law, or regulated environments. Hybrid Work Requirements This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days onsite each week at our vibrant Byron Bay HQ (industrial estate), with 2 days remote. Ready to Make an Impact?
