An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Principal Civil Engineer to join a high-performing infrastructure delivery team on a 12-month contract based on the Gold Coast.
In this role, you will take a lead position in delivering key components of major road infrastructure projects, with responsibility for driving project outcomes across time, cost, quality, and stakeholder expectations. You will provide high-level technical and commercial expertise, manage complex delivery environments, and contribute to key decision-making across the project lifecycle.
Working within a dedicated project team, you will play a pivotal role across all phases of delivery, including planning, design, pre‑construction and construction, while influencing project direction and ensuring successful outcomes across multiple concurrent initiatives.
The Role You will be responsible for leading the delivery of civil infrastructure projects within a complex program environment, acting in a delegated “Representative of the Principal” capacity and overseeing contract administration, procurement, and project governance activities. You will work closely with project teams, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered in line with technical, commercial, and regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing the delivery of civil infrastructure projects across multiple project phases
Acting in a delegated “Representative of the Principal” capacity for contract administration
Overseeing the preparation, calling, and evaluation of tenders, and supporting contract award processes
Providing high-level technical advice on design, materials, construction methodologies, and project delivery risks
Monitoring project progress, including reporting on performance, expenditure, and forecasts
Ensuring compliance with relevant standards, policies, legislative requirements, and environmental considerations
Managing stakeholder relationships and addressing issues in a timely and professional manner
Leading and coordinating project teams, including supervising technical staff and consultants
Supporting effective project governance and contributing to decision-making processes
About You You are an experienced civil engineering qualified with a strong background in delivering infrastructure projects within complex environments. You will bring:
Demonstrated experience managing the design and/or construction of civil infrastructure projects, ideally within road networks
Strong capability in contract administration, procurement processes, and tender evaluation
Experience operating in a client‑side or principal role on infrastructure projects
Proven ability to manage project delivery across full lifecycle stages
Well-developed stakeholder management and communication skills
Ability to lead and mentor engineering and technical teams
Strong understanding of relevant standards, policies, and legislative frameworks
Mandatory requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
Current RPEQ (Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland) – essential
Construction Industry White Card
Current driver’s licence
