We are an established structural steel fabrication and erection company delivering commercial, industrial, infrastructure, and architectural steel projects across South East Queensland. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a fast-paced and ambitious business with a strong reputation for quality, compliance, and delivery.The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing accurate tenders, managing project pricing, and supporting the continued growth of the business. About the Role Reporting directly to management, the Structural Steel Estimator will be responsible for reviewing drawings and specifications, preparing detailed cost estimates, liaising with suppliers and subcontractors, and assisting with tender submissions from inception through to handover.This role suits someone who is highly organised, commercially aware, and experienced within the structural steel industry. Key Responsibilities Review architectural, structural, and fabrication drawings Prepare accurate material take-offs and labour estimates Price fabrication, surface treatment, and installation costs for structural steel projects Source and negotiate supplier and subcontractor pricing Prepare and submit competitive tender proposals, clarifications, and supporting documentation Liaise with clients, engineers, builders, and internal stakeholders Participate in tender reviews and contribute to commercial decision-making Assist with project handovers to operations and project delivery teams Attend site visits and tender walkthroughs where required Estimates to align with project specifications, Australian Standards, and compliance requirements Skills & Experience Previous experience in structural steel estimating is essential Minimum 3 years' experience within the structural steel industry preferred Trade qualification in Boilermaking or similar highly regarded Strong understanding of steel fabrication and erection processes Ability to interpret engineering, fabrication, and shop drawings Experience estimating fabrication, welding, and installation projects Strong understanding of construction methodologies and site installation practices Experience using estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite Knowledge of Australian Standards relating to structural steel and welding compliance High attention to detail and strong commercial awareness Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple tenders simultaneously What We Offer Competitive salary package based on experience Long-term opportunity with an established and growing company Diverse range of commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects Supportive and collaborative team environment Modern workshop and office facilities located in Yatala Robust systems, QA processes, and operational support Immediate start available If you are looking for a long-term opportunity within a driven and professional steel fabrication business, we would love to hear from you.
