**The Opportunity** We are seeking a proactive, versatile individual who thrives in a fast-paced workplace and is passionate about high-quality seafood and customer service. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a "hybrid" workday that covers retail excellence, culinary preparation, live livestock care, and digital store management.

A Note on the Role: This can be a challenging role that requires multitasking and physical activity, but it offers a unique environment where you can learn a lot about the seafood industry, digital business, and livestock care. While the responsibilities are broad, you will be fully supported by other members of the team—we work together to ensure the store runs smoothly and our standards are met. No two days are the same, and every day will be interesting!

**Even if you don't have experience with live seafood or specific POS systems, we provide comprehensive on-the-job training to ensure you are confident and successful in the role.**

- **Basis**: Casual
- **Work Days**: Generally **Monday, Saturday, and Sunday**.
- **Shift Times**: 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM (Approx. 25 hours per week).
- **Reporting To**: Assistant Manager

**Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities**

Your routine will be diverse and hands-on, ensuring the shop remains at a high standard during peak trading days: **Food Preparation & Seafood Handling**
- **Oyster Shucking**: Learning to skillfully shuck oysters to order, ensuring quality and presentation for our customers.
- **Simple Cooked Food Prep**: Assisting with basic cooking tasks, including using the oven and trays to prepare simple seafood meals.
- **Prep Area Management**: Sanitizing cutting boards and ensuring cooked and raw items remain strictly separated.
- **Live Tank Maintenance**: Monitor oxygen, temperature, and livestock activity; top up tanks with conditioned water and ensure filtration systems are optimal.

**Retail & Digital Operations**
- **Customer Service**: Greet customers promptly, handle live seafood with care, and provide advice on cooking, storage, and product origins.
- **POS Management**: Update the POS system with new products and pricing; ensure barcodes scan correctly.

**Facility Maintenance**
- **Hygiene**: Sanitise the prep area and counters; ensure the retail floor, toilets, and windows are kept pristine.
- **Outdoor Care**: Maintain the outdoor dining area;
- **Closing Duties**: Execute final temperature-logging for fridges/freezers and secure the facility at the end of the day.

**What You'll Bring to Our Team**

We are looking for someone who is reliable, dedicated, and safety-focused:

- **Experience**: Previous experience in retail or hospitality is a plus, but not essential as **we provide full training in seafood handling, simple cooking, and oyster shucking**.
- **Tech Savvy**: Comfortable managing POS systems.
- **Work Ethic**: Reliable and self-motivated, especially when working weekend shifts. A willingness to perform both front-of-house service and essential **outdoor maintenance**.
- **Safety Focus**: Passionate about food safety standards and WHS compliance.
