Applications are sought for a Special Needs Education Assistant at St Josephs School.
The role will require the successful applicant to be able to support teachers in providing an inclusive, safe and supportive learning environment for students with special educational needs and/or disabilities. The role involves assisting students to access the curriculum, develop social and communication skills, and participate fully in classroom and school activities.
**Selection Criteria**
- **Relevant Qualifications and Experience**: Demonstrated qualifications in Education Support (Certificate III or IV or equivalent) and/or experience supporting students with special educational needs and/or disabilities in a school or similar setting.
- **Understanding of Inclusive Education**: Knowledge and understanding of inclusive education practices and strategies that support the learning, engagement, and wellbeing of students with diverse needs.
- **Ability to Support Student Learning**: Demonstrated ability to work with individual students or small groups to support learning activities, implement teacher-directed programs, and assist students to access the curriculum.
- **Behaviour and Wellbeing Support**: Experience supporting students with behavioural, emotional, or social needs using positive behaviour support strategies and maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment.
- **Communication and Teamwork Skills**: Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, school staff, and families while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
- Applicants must be willing to support the objectives and ethos of Catholic Education and be prepared to involve themselves in the extra-curricular life of the school.

Applicants are to submit a cover letter that addresses the selection criteria, curriculum vitae (CV) or resume, a copy of qualified qualifications, and the names and contact details for at least two referees, one of whom must be a current employer (where possible).
A current National Police History Check as issued by the Department of Education Western Australia must also be included. The appropriate Criminal History Record Check form is available from the Department of Education website.
(This position is a full time until December 31st, with the possibility of continuing into 2027)
