About the Role

Matteo Downtown brings the vibrant, energetic dining culture of Italy to the heart of Sydney. We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Chef to join our bustling kitchen team.

In this role, you will be instrumental in delivering the high-quality, authentic Italian dishes that our guests know and love. We are a high-volume, quick-paced premium venue, so we are looking for someone who thrives under pressure, maintains impeccable standards, and loves the art of Italian cooking.

Key Responsibilities Prepare, cook, and present high-quality dishes in line with our authentic Italian menu. Maintain efficiency and composure during high-volume lunch and dinner services. Ensure strict compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards. Manage prep for your section effectively to ensure a seamless service. Collaborate closely with the Head Chef and the rest of the kitchen brigade to maintain consistency and excellence.

What We Are Looking For Proven experience as a Chef / Chef de Partie in a fast-paced, premium restaurant environment. A strong background in Italian cuisine is highly preferred (experience with fresh pasta, authentic sauces, or Italian grill is a massive plus). A solid understanding of kitchen operations, prep management, and food safety regulations. Excellent teamwork and communication skills. The ability to remain calm and focused during busy services.
