Based in Herston, Brisbane and working in close collaboration with clinicians and other research institutes, QIMR Berghofer is home to more than 600 scientists, students and non-research staff. About Your Lab: The Flow Cytometry Facility provides an array of cutting-edge flow cytometry platforms in support of research at QIMR Berghofer and for commercial clients to deliver flow cytometry for clinical trials. The Flow Cytometry Facility is accredited to the ISO/IEC 17025 standard by NATA and performs sample preparation and immunophenotyping for contract clinical trial work. The Flow Cytometry Facility is part of the Scientific Services Division at QIMR Berghofer. Scientific Services provides a diverse array of essential services to researchers across QIMR Berghofer; including flow cytometry, microscopy, histology, GMP production, animal facilities, analytical facilities, sample processing, and cryogenics. Role Purpose / Responsibilities: Applications are invited for a Flow Cytometry Analyst to join the Flow Cytometry Facility within the Scientific Services Department. The following duties will apply: The primary responsibilities in this role include operating spectral and conventional flow cytometers and cell sorters, acquiring and analysing complex flow cytometry data, and preparing clinical samples for immunophenotyping. The role operates within a hybrid facility to deliver flow cytometry for both internal research projects and NATA-accredited commercial clinical trials. The position also requires expertise in maintaining instruments, performing regular quality control measures, and troubleshooting technical issues. Additional duties include maintaining and developing documentation to support NATA (ISO/IEC17025) quality systems; and providing training, education and consultancy in flow cytometry to a diverse range of clients. About you: The ideal candidate will have a PhD or graduate degree with experience in flow cytometry in a research facility or clinical research organisation, and strong knowledge of immunology and immunophenotyping. You will be required to have extensive experience in flow cytometry techniques, instruments and sample preparation. You will be skilled in operating and maintaining both conventional and spectral cytometers, performing QC, and troubleshooting issues. You should demonstrate confidence in using advanced technologies and be capable of effectively training and advising users in their application. You will be required to work accurately with high attention to detail and maintain excellent abilities in keeping accurate records. You should demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to work both independently and in a team. As a member of a small team, you will be a supporting leader who fosters a positive, improvement focused culture, encouraging open communication and collaboration across the laboratory. You will contribute to a cohesive, high performing team environment while confidently navigating quality system requirements and maintaining accurate, compliant documentation. Remuneration: Salary range is STO4
- $109,793 to $116,961; STO3 – $96,461 to $ 104,442 plus superannuation and generous salary packaging. This is a full time, permanent appointment. Classification is dependent on qualifications, skills and experience.
