Rydges Fortitude Valley, 601 Gregory Terrace, Bowen Hills, Queensland, Australia The Role As a Tradesperson at Rydges Fortitude Valley, you will be responsible for performing routine repair work and maintenance in and about the hotel. Working as part of our maintenance team, you'll help ensure our guests enjoy a secure, comfortable and well-presented environment at all times – playing a key role in delivering on our vision of creating experiences and properties that escape the ordinary. Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine and reactive maintenance across the hotel — repairs, preventative checks, and everything in between.
- Respond promptly to guest and inter‑departmental requests; elevate and follow up until resolved.
- Log defects and completed work accurately; communicate urgent or safety matters to the Maintenance Manager immediately.
- Keep all public areas safe, equipment operational, and the working environment clean and hazard‑free.
- Work rotating shifts as Shift Operator and support other departments as needed.
- Uphold WH&S; guidelines, grooming standards, and hotel policies at all times. What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience in a trades or maintenance role, ideally within a hotel or hospitality environment.
- Relevant trade qualifications or licences (e.g. electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or general building maintenance).
- Strong technical problem‑solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve maintenance issues efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills and a guest‑first attitude.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety practices and procedures.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
